Five major start-ups that were founded by women's self-help and later became successful, have made it to the Unicorn Club.

The NykaaFounder: Falguni Nayar

Falguni Nayar was the managing director of Kotak Mahindra Bank. After retiring from that job, Nykaa launched in 2012. Founded with an emphasis on women's beauty and fashion, Nykaa raised Rs 100 crore in capital from Steadview Capital in 2020. It later became a unicorn startup with a valuation of $1.2 billion. In 2021, Nykaa raised Rs 5352 crore. Today, Nykaa is a more trusted brand than cosmetic brands and Falguni Nayar has become India's richest female start-up billionaire.

The Mother Earth
Founder: Ghazal Alagh
Value: $1.2 billion
This startup was launched in 2016. Mama Earth is a brand that produces skincare products. Mama Earth has become the first Asian brand to receive MADE SAFE certification. In 2022, the company became a unicorn with a valuation of $1.2 bn.

The Hasura
Founder: Rajoshi Ghosh
Value: Rs 1 crore
Hazura was born out of founder Rajoshi Ghosh's idea that it was very difficult to build and deploy an app. Launched in 2017, Hazura is a SaaS-based startup. It provides an open source platform that helps in developing web applications quickly. The company, which recently became a unicorn, has raised $100 million in Series C funding, giving it a valuation of $1 billion.

The Good Glam Group
Founders: Priyanka Gill, Nayya Saggi
Value: $1.2 billion
Founded in 2021, GoodGlamm Group has become a member of India's unicorn club in less than a year. Initially, 11 companies were transferred and $250 million of investment was received. GoodGlamm Group is a start-up valued at $1.2 bn today and aims to generate $150m in revenue over the next 3 years.
The Priestly Care
Founder: Dr. Garima Sawhney
Value: $1.4 billion
This health-tech start-up was founded in 2018. Dr. Garima Sawhney's Pristyn Care simplifies the surgical journey of patients. Today, Pristyn Care is a group of 700 hospitals and 100 clinics. After Series E funding in 2021, the company became India's unicorn startup with a valuation of $1.4 bn.
