A new entrepreneur on Reddit has said that the current social law in India is not suitable for entrepreneurs. He called for selecting other countries with better opportunities and governance for the new venture.
The entrepreneur, who drew flak from Anonymous Post, introduced himself as someone who graduated from a leading Indian engineering institute and completed his post-graduation in the US. After working for a leading American bank, he returned to India to start a company in 2018. The company raised enough funds and employed about 30 people at an average salary of ₹15 lakh.
He said India's laws and social conditions affect the development of the country. "You have to be a politician or a celebrity for things to go smoothly," he said. To illustrate this, he shared an experience where his company helped the police solve a fraud case. He said that despite getting the victim's money back, the police did not close the case against the company and the police officers demanded a bribe.
He also criticized the poor public services of roads and hospitals, as well as high taxes. "You can get away with India taxing even the popcorn you eat because no one here knows about the popcorn industry that is driving the $5 trillion economy."
The entrepreneur also described occasionally facing "local hate" from service providers such as auto drivers, cab drivers and restaurant staff. He added that the social system in India is associated with wealth and appearances. "If you are not rich or don't wear expensive branded clothes, you are a garbage in this country," he said.
