Yann LeCun, Meta’s Chief AI Scientist, emphasized that an academic qualification such as a PhD or Master’s degree is crucial for aspiring AI entrepreneurs in India, especially in areas involving deep and technical fields like Artificial Intelligence (AI).

In an interview with Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath, LeCun said, “A PhD or graduate studies train you to discover new things.” However, he also clarified that a PhD is not a mandatory requirement for success.

LeCun encouraged young entrepreneurs to experiment with open-source models like Meta’s Llama. He added that companies can fine-tune these models for specific sectors like healthcare and education.
