Japanese technology giant SoftBank Group and OpenAI join forces The two groups announced on Monday that they are expanding their AI collaboration with equal participation. The company is known as SB OpenAI Japan.
SoftBank Chief Masayoshi Son and OpenAI Chief Sam Altman attended an event in Tokyo to talk about their collaboration and invite Japanese companies to join.
Sun said that companies can use Crystal, an artificial intelligence service, for strategy, marketing, emails and finding old source codes. Crystal will first be rolled out to Sun's own SoftBank Group companies. SoftBank said it plans to spend $3 billion a year integrating Crystal across its companies.
"This is going to be superintelligence for the company. I'm very excited," Sun said at the AI event.
SoftBank and OpenAI are part of the Stargate initiative, backed by President Donald Trump, which is investing up to $500 billion in artificial intelligence infrastructure in the United States. Sun said Stargate will be expanded to Japan and other countries.
