Flipkart, the Walmart-owned e-commerce company that competes with Amazon in the Indian market, has announced the opening of two new fulfilment centres (FCs) in Uttar Pradesh. The new facilities include a Grocery FC in Varanasi and a sortation centre in Unnao, which will be equipped with 5 lakh square feet of storage space. It was inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The new facilities are expected to significantly enhance Flipkart's operational efficiencies in the region, reduce delivery time and support the local economy.
The establishment of these new fulfillment centers will generate more than 3,600 direct and indirect employment opportunities in the state. The new grocery fulfilment centre in Varanasi and the non-large facility in Unnao will offer customers a wide range of products from local to established brands.

Kumar pointed out that the new FCs are part of Flipkart's extensive efforts to create employment opportunities in the state. Efforts to ramp up infrastructure through a growing network of fulfilment centres will ensure faster and reliable delivery to customers. Flipkart has been creating thousands of people through its flagship initiatives like Flipkart Samarth and Samarth Krishi and the launch of new FCs in the state.
