An Ola electric scooter caught fire outside an Ola showroom in Karnataka. Congress spokesperson Lavanya Ballal Jain shared a video of the incident on the social media platform X. The incident occurred near Jayadeva Hospital in BTM Layout, Bengaluru, where the video shows the scooter fully engulfed in flames as bystanders record the scene.
This is not the first time an Ola Electric scooter has caught fire. The incident in front of the showroom presents a significant challenge for Bhavish Aggarwal-led Ola Electric.
On October 7, the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) issued a notice to Ola Electric, highlighting hundreds of unresolved complaints and inadequate complaint redressal mechanisms.
“The CCPA is investigating several complaints about Ola Electric, mainly concerning service issues. We hope the company addresses the problems faced by consumers promptly,” said the Secretary of the Department of Consumer Affairs regarding the incident.
However, Ola Electric’s Chief Financial Officer Harish Abhichandani stated that the company has a comprehensive complaint redressal system, adding that 99.1% of the 10,644 complaints received so far have been resolved to the complete satisfaction of customers.
