Born in Dallas, Texas, to a Maharashtrian family, Shantanu Deshpande's early life was marked by a close acquaintance with diverse cultures. After returning to India, he pursued an engineering degree from the Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur, and an MBA from the prestigious Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Lucknow.

Shantanu's professional journey began when he joined the renowned consulting firm McKinsey & Company as an external consultant. Working at McKinsey became a formative experience for his leadership skills and strategic acumen.

Inspired by the untapped potential of the men's grooming market, Shantanu along with his co-founders Deepu Panicker, Raunak Munot and Rohit Jaiswal embarked on a new entrepreneurial journey in 2016. She started a direct-to-customer (D2C) venture called Bombay Shaving Company. The high-quality men's grooming brand, aims to revolutionize the industry.

Bombay Shaving Company's product portfolio includes a wide range of men's grooming essentials including trimmers, razors, shave care, skin care and bath products. Bombay Shaving Company, a leader in quality and innovation among men looking for a comprehensive solution for their grooming needs, is gaining more and more customers.

The startup's products are available across various e-commerce marketplaces and 40,000 stores, including Nykaa, Flipkart, and Amazon.The company also has a presence in India, the US, Europe, the Middle East, Australia and New Zealand.

In 2022, Shantanu was named by Fortune India as one of the Top 40 under 40, a prestigious recognition that underlines his leadership and influence. At present, the Bombay Shaving Company is worth about Rs 1000 crore.
