K Madhavan has resigned as the country manager and president of Disney Star after 15 years of service. Madhavan has overseen the Disney + Hotstar brand and played a key role in the company's growth.
Madhavan took over the role in 2019 after Uday Shankar's departure. In 2009, he joined Star India as the South Head. Prior to that, he served as the MD and CEO of Asianet between 2000-2008. There he led the channel to 50 percent market share of Malayalam. His vision has led to quality programmes in South India.
Under his leadership, Disney Star produced more than 20,000 hours of programming per year on more than 70 TV channels in nine languages. Disney + Hotstar reaches nearly 700 million viewers every month.
The Disney star declined to comment on the news.
