Amazon India Country Manager (Quick Delivery) Sameer Kumar said that the company will join the likes of Zomato's Blinkit, Swiggy Instamart, Zepto, Flipkart Minutes and BigBasket to compete with other fast delivery giants.
Amazon's pivot will start in Bengaluru by the end of this month. Earlier, there were reports that Amazon will call its Quick Commerce section as Tess, but the company has not revealed the name yet.
Speaking at the company's main event in Delhi, Sameer Kumar said," "We will launch a pilot to give our customers an opportunity to get their daily essentials in 15 minutes or less."
Existing e-commerce companies are also venturing into quick commerce as customers in major cities like Bangalore and Delhi are becoming increasingly interested in quick delivery.
