Voice assistants make life easier and more efficient by replacing manual tasks. Siri, Alexa, and Google Voice Assistant are just a few of the artificial intelligence-based tools used on a daily basis. Hailed as the technology of the future, artificial intelligence is slowly making its way into complex domains such as self-drive vehicles, quantum computing and healthcare.

Suki, a United States of America-based startup founded by Punit Soni, has developed its own voice assistant that works on artificial intelligence to simplify healthcare for doctors and other health care professionals. Simply put, Suki is similar to Siri for doctors. Just as you can order a pizza or schedule an appointment at Ciri's, doctors at Ciri's can modify, edit, and add to their patients' health records. Suki is a powerful tool to help doctors with the documentation of health records that often take hours of their time.

Suki currently focuses on documentation, but has plans to expand its use to data queries, ordering, prescribing, and billing. According to the Suki publication, using its technology increases the amount of time a doctor spends with a patient by 12%, as well as reduces note-taking time by 76%. Saving time also gives doctors an additional financial benefit of $30,000 in earnings per year, on average.

Suki raised a $20 million Series B round from Flair Capital Partners, First Round Capital, and Venrock, doubling the total funding to $40 million since its launch in 2017. Suki plans to expand its operations in India as well, with Bangalore as its base. Given the amount of manual work that goes into every sector, India has a lot of potential for Suki.
