Zomato COO Deepinder Goyal is joining hands with his long-time colleague and former Zomato C. O. O. Surobhi Das, through his new aviation venture "Lat Aerospace". Goyal has already invested 20 million in the company. Surobhi Das was the former Chief Operating Officer of Zomato.
Lat Aerospace plans to build small aircraft that can carry 24 people. These will be aircraft that can fly and land even in small towns that do not have the facilities of regular airports.
These aircraft will only need a short distance to take off and land. There is no need for large runways. A facility as small as a parking lot will be enough. This also helps in traveling at a lower cost than regular flights.
These planes are intended for long-distance travel between cities. They can fly up to 1500 km in one go. That is, you can easily travel from Kochi to Bangalore or from Thiruvananthapuram to Chennai.
The company is trying to hire engineers who are experts in fields such as aerodynamics, material science, and hybrid propulsion systems. That is, it aims to build planes using the most advanced technology.
Deepinder Goyal has invested $ 20 million (about Rs 165 crore) in this company. In addition, talks are underway to receive $ 50 million (about Rs 413 crore) as seed funding. This will be a great help for the company's growth.
The main goal of Lat Aerospace is to connect small towns and cities in India. The aim is to make air travel easy and affordable for even the common man.
