Zomato delists 19,000 restaurants from its platform for various reasons

Zomato delisted 19,000 restaurants from its platform in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2025, citing poor hygiene standards, brand impersonation, and duplicate listings as the main reasons. While this has affected short-term order volumes, CEO Deepinder Goyal says the move is necessary to protect customer trust. He stressed the importance of removing bad restaurants from the platform to maintain credibility in the market.

The company announced the discontinuation of its 15-minute delivery service 'Kwik' and its everyday food service 'Zomato Everyday', citing a clear lack of profitability without compromising on customer experience. Zomato reported adjusted revenue of Rs 2,409 crore, down slightly from Rs 2,413 crore in the previous quarter but up 17.5% year-on-year. Its gross order value grew 16% year-on-year to Rs 9,778 crore, while average monthly transaction users grew to 20.9 million.

Despite sluggish growth due to lower consumer demand, fewer delivery partners and increasing competition from Quick Commerce, Goyal expressed long-term confidence in the business. Goyal now directly oversees the food delivery division after Rakesh Ranjan stepped down as CEO. Eternal's overall net profit fell 77.8% to Rs 39 crore due to losses at Quick Commerce unit Blinkit.
