The number of internet users in India has increased to 958 million by the end of 2025, according to the IAMAI report. This is an 8 percent growth over the previous year. It is noteworthy that 57 percent of this, or about 548 million people, are from rural areas. The digital revolution is spreading in villages four times faster than in cities.
The use of artificial intelligence (AI) and short videos has increased significantly in India. About 44 percent of users use AI features such as voice search and chatbots. In addition, 61 percent of internet users watch short videos. These changes are being led by the youth.
There have also been major changes in online shopping patterns. More than half of urban residents buy goods online. Quick Commerce systems are gaining popularity. The report indicates that while India is making great progress in the digital arena overall, about 38 percent of people are still outside the internet and these too will enter the digital world in the coming years.
