Gautam Adani's Adani Group is in talks to buy Dubai-based Emaar India, a real estate company, for about $1.4-1.5 billion (about Rs 11,600-Rs 12,400 crore). The move is part of the Adani Group's efforts to expand into the real estate sector.
Emaar Properties had entered the Indian real estate market in 2005 with an investment of Rs 8,500 crore. Later, in 2016, this partnership ended and it became a separate company called Emaar India.
Emaar India owns several residential and commercial properties across cities like Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Mohali, Lucknow, Indore and Jaipur.
Adani Realty, a subsidiary of the Adani Group, is active in the real estate market in India. They have already completed several projects in major cities.
Adani Group is also involved in big projects like the development of Dharavi slum in Mumbai and the Rs 36,000 crore development of Motilal Nagar.
