AI data center worth Rs 52,600 crore coming up in Kannur

Dubai-based Solstice Data is setting up a large-scale artificial intelligence (AI) data center in collaboration with the Kerala government at the Mattanur Kinfra Industrial Park in Kannur. The project, which is expected to cost an investment of around Rs 52,600 crore, has been signed in Thiruvananthapuram by Solstice Data India Head Raj Babu Thulaseedharan and Kinfra MD Santosh Koshy Thomas at a function held in the presence of Industries Minister P. Rajeev.

Solstice Data, which operates around 60 data centers worldwide, is known for providing state-of-the-art high-performance computing (HPC) facilities. The company aims to implement this huge investment in phases over the next five to seven years. The government estimates that this project, which will be implemented with local cooperation, will give a big boost to Kerala's digital economy and technological development.

Out of the 175 acres in the Kinfra Park in Mattanur, 123 acres have been set aside for industries. The lion's share of this will be used for this new project. The standard design factory and other lands here have already been allotted to various entrepreneurs. This area, located close to the Kannur airport, offers great potential for such a large-scale IT-related project.
