GoKwik, a leading startup that provides various services to e-commerce firms, has laid off 100 to 120 employees as it further automates its daily operations using artificial intelligence (AI). While the restructuring that has been taking place at the company over the past few weeks has affected the entire workforce, it has mostly affected those in customer onboarding, implementation and tech.
Founded in 2020 by Chirag Taneja, Vivek Bajpai and Ankush Talwar, the company primarily provides software tools to help online brands increase sales and improve services. Goquick, which has raised $68 million in funding so far, recently acquired Return Prime and Tellephant to expand its global footprint.
Job cuts due to the advent of artificial intelligence are becoming increasingly common in the Indian startup scene. Recently, Livspace laid off around 1,000 employees and Innovaxer laid off 350 employees as part of the AI revolution. Acko, which is preparing for an IPO, also laid off five percent of its total workforce in a similar manner.
