Artificial intelligence startup Anthropic has secured an additional $4 billion investment from Amazon, bringing the e-commerce giant's total investment to $8 billion. This underscores the growing investments by major tech companies in generative AI.
Amazon will continue as a minority shareholder, the company clarified. Its AWS unit will serve as Anthropic's official cloud service provider. Anthropic also announced that it is collaborating with AWS' Annapurna Labs to develop Trainium chips and plans to train its foundational models using this hardware.
