Reports have emerged that Google's artificial intelligence model Gemini can now remove watermarks from images.
Gemini easily removes marks such as company logos or text that are commonly found on images from large stock image websites like Getty Images.
Watermarks are used to show ownership of images. Users shared on social media platforms X and Reddit that Gemini removes these watermarks and returns the image to its original form.
Other AI models, such as Anthropic's Cloud 3.7 Sonnet and Open AI's GPT-4o, do not have the ability to remove watermarks.
Under US copyright law, removing watermarks without the owner's permission is illegal.
