Indian deeptech company Genrobotics wins major contract from Singapore Water Authority

Indian deeptech company Genrobotics has won a major contract for the maintenance of Singapore's national water authority, PUB, for the sewage network. It beat out over 600 companies from around the world to win this prestigious award. The project will use state-of-the-art robots that will help in automated inspection and cleaning of underground spaces that are dangerous for humans to enter.

The contract highlights Genrobotics' growth from a company that solves social problems in the country to a company that exports technology globally. The company currently has a presence in countries such as Malaysia, the UK, the UAE, and South Africa. In India, its services are used in over 100 cities across 23 states. The company's CEO Vimal Govind M.K said that this recognition is proof that Indian-made robots meet global standards in safety and efficiency.

The company first gained attention with its robot 'Bandicoot', which was built with the aim of ending manual scavenging by humans climbing into manholes. In addition, they have developed an AI-assisted robotic system 'G-Gaiter' for patient rehabilitation in the healthcare sector and robots to ensure safety in the oil and gas industry. The company, which operates as part of the 'Make in India' initiative, has currently received 6 patents in India.
