Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Jio and Elon Musk's SpaceX have signed an agreement to bring Starlink's high-speed internet services to Indian customers. Jio's move comes a day after Sunil Mittal's Bharti Airtel signed a similar agreement. With this, fierce competition is emerging in the satellite internet sector in India.
The partnership will allow both companies to examine how Starlink can improve Jio's services and how Jio's infrastructure can be used to support SpaceX's direct services to consumers and businesses.
Jio said that Starlink solutions will be available at Jio's retail outlets and online stores and will provide comprehensive support for installation, activation and customer service.
Jio added that the partnership with SpaceX aims to increase internet access for enterprises, small and medium businesses across India and that Starlink will work with Jio AirFiber and JioFiber to provide connectivity in remote and hard-to-reach areas.
Starlink aims to provide high-speed internet anywhere in the world using satellites. Starlink can bring high-speed internet to rural and remote areas of India.
