Matchmaking platform Juleo shuts down

A notable online matchmaking startup, Juleo, has shut down its operations. The company's co-founder Varun Sud said it is temporarily suspending its services after failing to raise the required capital. Despite offering a secure service with the help of artificial intelligence and no fake profiles, the company's past failures in the sector have put off investors.

Juleo, which launched in 2023, had raised around $2.5 million in funding from prominent angel investors. The platform focused on finding the best partners and ensuring more privacy for women through its AI system called 'Genie'. The company also claims that many marriages and relationships have taken place across India through this app, which has received over five lakh downloads.

Julio was competing with global giants like Tinder and Bumble, as well as Indian startups like Aisle. It is the 25th startup to shut down in 2025. Although Julio has shut down, Varun Sud has also hinted that he will launch a new venture in the consumer AI space in the coming days.
