OpenAI has launched a new subscription plan in India called ChatGPT Go. It costs INR 399 per month and can be paid for via UPI. The plan is around 80% cheaper than the Plus subscription and offers extended access to GPT-5 with select features. The launch makes ChatGPT more affordable for Indian users, which is currently available only in select regions.

The move reflects OpenAI’s efforts to expand in India, which has over 886 million internet users, a market that is expected to cross 1.2 billion by 2030. By offering local pricing in Indian rupees and removing foreign transaction barriers, the company aims to make its services more accessible and user-friendly.

Go's launch comes on the heels of the release of GPT-5, which includes new features like pre-set personalities for diverse interaction styles. OpenAI is also considering deeper investments in India, with talks with Reliance Industries, PIF, and MGX.
