Innovations has launched SSI Mantra, the country's first mobile tele-robotic surgery unit. The company's goal is to make surgery faster for people in remote and underserved areas in times of need. The unit also enables real-time support of doctors to conduct scientific procedures and provide guidance.
The mobile unit is built on BharatBenz 1824 chassis. The unit has a gross vehicle weight of 18,500 kg, length of 11.9 m, width of 2.59 m and height of 3.49 m. The cost of converting the vehicle into a fully functional telesurgery unit, excluding the robotic system, is around Tk 1.3 crore.
To ensure seamless operations during the journey and setup, the vehicle is reinforced with a special locking system and vibration-dampening systems. It also features an onboard 5 KVA generator to ensure uninterrupted operations even in remote locations.
It also features a 380-litre fuel tank that provides high mobility to the unit. Connectivity is an important factor for telesurgery, so SSI Mantra is specially equipped with high-speed telecommunications systems.
