This mobile unit is built on a BharatBenz 1824 chassis. This unit has a gross vehicle weight of 18,500 kg and is 11.9 meters long, 2.59 meters wide and 3.49 meters high. The cost of converting the vehicle into a fully functional telesurgery unit, excluding the robotic system, is around Rs 1.3 crore.
To ensure uninterrupted operations during travel and setup, the vehicle has been reinforced with special locking system and vibration-damping systems. One of the key aspects of the S. S. I Mantra is its robust power backup system. It also incorporates an onboard 5 KVA generator to ensure uninterrupted operations even in remote locations.
It also has a 380 litre fuel tank that provides high mobility to the unit. Connectivity is a key factor for telesurgery, hence the S. S. I Mantra is specially equipped with high-speed telecommunication systems.
