After a slight decline in February, UPI transactions in India recorded another big jump in March. According to the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), 22.64 billion transactions were processed in March, an increase of 11 percent. Through this, a total of Rs 29.53 lakh crore was transferred. An average of 730 million transactions were processed in the country every day this month.
Among the apps providing UPI services, PhonePe is still at the top. 928.3 crore transactions were processed through PhonePe. Google Pay, which has a market share of 34 percent, is in second place with 676.7 crore transactions, and Paytm is in third place with 159.9 crore transactions. In addition to Navi and Super.Money, BHIM app has also strengthened its presence with 175 crore transactions.
UPI transactions are being driven by the increasing use of digital payments across urban and rural areas. In the financial year 2026 (FY26), 241.6 billion UPI transactions worth a total of Rs 314.2 lakh crore were processed in the country. This indicates the strong growth and adoption of digital financial transactions in India.
