Flipkart is opening two fulfillment centers in Uttar Pradesh

Walmart-owned e-commerce company Flipkart, which competes with Amazon in the Indian market, has announced the opening of two new fulfillment centers (FCs) in Uttar Pradesh. The new facilities include a Grocery FC at Varanasi and a Sortation Center at Unnao with 5 lakh square feet of storage space. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the centres. The new facilities are expected to significantly increase Flipkart's operations in the region, reduce delivery times and support the local economy.

The establishment of these new fulfillment centers will create more than 3,600 direct and indirect employment opportunities in the state. The new grocery fulfillment center at Varanasi and the non-large facility at Unnao will offer consumers a wide range of products ranging from local to established brands.

Flipkart's strategic investments in Uttar Pradesh align with the state's ambition to become a trillion dollar economy by 2027. Rajneesh Kumar, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Flipkart Group, spoke about the importance of these investments, stating that they aim to empower local communities, MSMEs, farmers and related businesses by supporting their digital transformation journey.

Kumar also pointed out that the new FCs are part of Flipkart's wider efforts to create jobs in the state. Efforts to enhance infrastructure through a growing network of fulfillment centers will ensure fast and reliable delivery to customers. Flipkart is creating thousands of people through key initiatives like Flipkart Samarth, Samarth Krishi and the launch of new FCs in the state. employment opportunities, thereby supporting Uttar Pradesh's goal of becoming a $1 trillion economy by 2027. Additionally, Flipkart's grocery service, which currently serves over 1,800 cities and 10,000 zip codes across India, has significantly expanded its reach, helping to meet the growing demand for online shopping in the country.
