Ola's AI startup Krutrim lays off half of its staff

Bhavish Agarwal-led AI startup Krutrim has laid off half of its staff (20 to 25). This is the second job cuts at the company this year. The company, which had earlier laid off employees in sales and business operations, has this time mainly laid off employees in product and engineering.

Representatives said that they are constantly making changes to the team structure based on their business growth and new priorities. The company had made similar changes last year. In addition to the resignations of senior executives, more than 150 employees, including language experts, lost their jobs in July and September.

In May this year, the company expanded its scope of operations to become a domestic AI cloud service provider. Krithrim, which raised $50 million in January 2024 and became India's first AI unicorn, posted strong financial results in the last financial year (FY26). The company recorded revenue of Rs 300 crore and healthy profits, a three-fold increase over the previous year (FY25).
