Zoho co-founder Sridhar Vembu has urged the Indian diaspora in the US to return home to build the future of the country. In a post on X, he said that India needs not just financial investment, but also the expertise and experience of the Indian diaspora. He said that this experience is essential to lead the country's young generation.
He warned that Americans are increasingly worried that Indians are destroying their jobs. Instead of depending on the changing political situation in the US, he called for working for the technological growth of their own country. Vembu added that India's strength in the field of technology will earn it real respect globally, rather than recognition from Western countries.
However, the response to this call was quite mixed on social media. While some supported this stance for nation-building, many others pointed to India's fundamental problems such as corruption, reservation, and lack of recognition of merit. Responding to criticism that talent will not return without providing better employment conditions, he stated that the country urgently needs experts with years of experience in innovative fields such as lasers, carbon fiber, and jet engines.
