The Ayurveda Co (T.A.C), a leading D2C Ayurveda brand, and its sister company, Khadi Essentials, have completely shut down, said co-founder Param Bhargava. The startups, which were launched in 2021, had stopped their operations in July 2025. The company is currently in the process of selling its assets and officially closing down.
He said that the main reason for the collapse was the rapid expansion of the business without any prior preparations and the hiring of senior employees beyond its financial capacity. The founders had tried their best to overcome the financial crisis and keep the company afloat by mortgaging their own assets and forgoing salaries for more than a year. Although the company's revenue grew to Rs 59.6 crore in the last financial year, the loss reached Rs 68 crore due to a huge increase in expenses.
The company has raised around $15 million so far from investors including Sixth Sense Ventures, Wipro Consumer Care and actress Kajal Aggarwal. T.A.C is now among a growing list of Indian startups that are set to shut down by 2026 due to the financial crisis. Several other startups like Savtakart, Medial and Pixie have also recently shut down in similar fashion.
